Tuesday 2nd August - Course week

After 25mm of rain yesterday, the field had drained well, but it was the fog that was the problem today.
After a weather briefing which had just a hint of the possibility of flying later, there followed briefings on circuit planning, thermalling and some more exercises in the simulator.
There was an improvement in the visibility and cloudbase with some bright slots in the distance towards Dartmoor after lunch, Wooly decided to do a weather check on cloudbase using one of his models and it was decided that some flying was possible.

We managed 8 flights before the dreaded autumnal  misting canopies and some showery rain called a halt to proceedings but not before Wooly commented on the noticeable improvements on flying skills following the simulator work. - J&P
