Wednesday 3rd August

A windy start to Wednesday, the best day so far for the August course with the potential for some good lift,
the Wednesday members were ready for some interesting flying in the strong wind.

The day progressed smoothly, Nigel Everett was first to soar in his DG300 with a flight of over an hour after that most flights were soarable, all the launches were over 1500ft in the strong southwesterly wind in the very capable hands of Richard Harris and Aston Key the course winch drivers.
Justin Wills and Lizzie Westcott had around four hours in the DG505,

The course members all progressed quite well, considering the difficult gusty conditions, and all got ticks in boxes for wind gradient appreciation. - J&P
A large group from the Devon MX5 club arranged to meet at the club for an evening flying session. Unfortunately a strong and gusting westerly wind had other ideas but they used the club as a rendezvous anyway.

We were able to brief them on what we do and show them the gliders and field which went down well. Several tried the simulator which provoked further interest and we hope that they will return and be able to fly. - Peter Smith
